Dates. Dates were so confusing. Humans had these things called weeks and months and it was all so confusing that Bluberion wanted to understand it to the best of her abilities, but unfortunately it didnt go so fast, not with her people having a much looser understanding of time. They counted today, they counted tomorrow, yesterday, next moon, next season. They guided themselves by nature and how it looked, how weather was and so on, but dates?? How would you assign a number to something you couldnt physically grasp? It was odd.

So odd, that when she heard how many "dates" had passed since her departure from her homeland, she figured that by this timeframe, seasons much have changed. Her people were preparing for the change when she left too.. Body paintings, weapons and den decorations, as well as offerings being made for the gods, but what could she do here? Where could she place her offerings? Where could she get the traditional things from? She had already left her family behind like some traitor, if she also ditched her gods she'd be dead.

Word of mouth said that something named "the cathedral" was where gods resided at. It was a scary thought to think she could meet up with them here, how did these humans trap the gods? They were needed in other places!

She asked for Ya'akov's permission to wander off to the said cathedral after finding out where it was, since Ya'akov was still the main figure of authority she perceived here, but was unaware of it. Then, she asked where she could find ceremonial paint, and was redirected to a "Violet's Heaven" named den that had all sorts of paint, tools and others for trading.

She didnt have anything to trade in return for them, though, so she grabbed enough for what she needed to do and sneaked away, changing colors to blend in with her surroundings when the human wasnt paying attention only to her.

Then, when to acquire goods for an offering (by now it was obvious that she wanted to seem independent to Ya'akov, and not be a parasite to ask for stuff constantly, she lowkey wanted to impress with this). Goods that ranged from fruits to raw meat, neither of which were the same as her home's food?? Which was extremely confusing. In the end, she discovered that since she already looked different and "feral" as some shouted at her when passing by, and she thought she could use that to her advantage for once.

So she tucked her stolen stuff in a trashcan, hid it behind another dumpster, to keep it safe, and lowered on all fours, flicking her lion-like tail constantly to look more like those mini felines humans had around, called cats. She was way bigger though, the scheme wouldnt fool smart people, she knew as much. She went to trick the people from the stinky part of the city then.

Unknowing Reds were scared off, others were fascinated and wanted to get closer, and in the end she managed to get half a red-coated fruit they called an apple, a small thing that looked a lot like the eggs of few creatures back home (which she accidentally dropped, but it didnt drip? only looked cracked. upon further inspection, it was weird to touch, but smelled interesting). She hoped for some meat, of any kind, but found none and people werent giving her stuff anymore either. It was time to go, and hope the gods wouldnt be too mad.

On her way to the cathedral, carrying all of the stuff in a satchel she had, Bluberion kept an eye out for anything else she could use for the offering and eventually arrived at the gigantic settlement, made out of shiny metal, stones and polished rocks and such beautiful sights!

Nobody jumped to insult her, nobody looked weirdly at her, she felt.. welcome. But lost. She had no idea where to next.

Humans dressed in white robes were here and there, and she figured asking one could help her out. The humans made out of stone and towering over her were a little odd, but they had a sacred air.

She wasnt sure if she should hide herself or not, if the humans' gods would allow her to call for her own here, so just to be safe, Akh'Tamar changed the shade of her hair, skin and eyes, trying to look close to what the first human she saw was like: a pinkish hair, caramel skin and yellow eyes - albeit she was starting to think the yellow eyes werent so common among humans, so she switched to a dark green instead. She then tried to roll her tail and hide it in her pants - humans didnt have that too. The leather clothing she couldnt change, but at least she learned to leave her odd weapons at home. Well, with Ya'akov.

After altering her appearance as such, she walked into the cathedral, finding the first human in a white robe to address him. "Hello. Where do I give an offering?" Her kind werent dumb, they had language and the capacity to learn, they just used a lot of body language on top of that, which the humans seemed to not use as much. But she was stil getting the hang of what manners meant, other vocabulary words and so on. At least she acquired their language. She showed the young man her satchel, full of paint tubes, odd food, flowers she found along the way and a rose from the White gate, she couldnt help it.

Kier was tending the altars when the woman came in. That was a nice, quiet job, one required only reverence rather than chanting. The junior priest was used to being sort of invisible as he went about his tasks and was surprised when a woman who didn't look quite properly human (was that a tail peeking out of her pants?) came over and spoke to him.

She'd made a decent attempt at looking human - pinkish hair, warm brown skin, and dark green eyes were not the most exotic look he'd seen a human adopt - but she wasn't quite right. Kier swallowed nervously, then looked into the bag she'd brought.

Flowers, food, and ... paint? Deciding this alien woman might want to give offerings to Apollo, he motioned for her to follow and headed to the altar of the Violets' god.

He uttered no word towards her and Bluberion wasnt sure if he had been intimidated or if it was just how the people in white did things. But she could see others around exchanging words, so why didnt he? Were they not allowed to talk to strangers? She didnt know if asking either of those questions would be appropriate, so she decided to observe more before coming to a conclusion of some sort.

He motioned for her to follow, and she lowered her satchel, walking with him to where she was supposed to perform her little ritual and all, despite having forgotten to mention which god she wanted to give an offering to, and to ask where he was taking her.

They walked through the impressive structures of the cathedral, pictures of the human deities displayed on walls or as statues and all the shiny decorations with soft fabrics made it all look like something one of the tribe's shamans would love, back home. She kept silent for most of the walk, admiring the place.

Then, they arrived in a praying place, she could recognize it by how it was all arranged, by the little bowl with almost dried flowers. But... the representation of the god... this wasnt her deity? She was searching for a naturally created wooden structure of a shape that resembled a face, which she'd paint on and then do her own paint as well to mirror the deity and copy its fortune. But this? This wasnt who she wanted. She didnt know this god.

Bluberion frowned in confusion, tilting her head sideways and looking up and down at the altar. She couldnt pretend this was her deity, that would be dangerous. She turned towards the young man. "Who is this?" Not the god of nature for sure. She didnt sounded revolted or offended or anything, just genuinely confused, and she thought he might be so too. "Do you know Umthi?"

Her confusion was evident, but Kier wasn't sure what other god she might want to make an offering of paint to. He looked back at her with wide-eyed bewilderment. Then she asked for a specific god, but it was not one that Kier - studying since he was four to be a priest - had ever heard of.

Umthi? What sort of god was Umthi? Slowly, Kier shook his head, curls flopping in his eyes like a little lost sheepdog. He motioned again at Apollo and his alter. Maybe the two gods were similar (for Keir was not against the idea there might be more gods than those he knew) or perhaps Umthi was a different name for Apollo.

Humans hadnt yet heard or seen traces of Akh'Tamar's planet as it was, let alone hear of her species' gods, undoubtedly no one here would be able to help her out with that. But did she know that? Not at all. All she found out was that her gods wouldnt be pleased with humans and their ignorance.

He pointed at the same wrong altar again and her cat-like eyes followed his movements, then turned back to him. If only he'd talk, they could maybe try to sort this out?? She had absorbed English a while ago, surely no language barriers should interferre. Unless he used big words.

Bluberion shook her head as well. "This god is human, looks like you. It's not Umthi." She completely forgot the part where she supposedly was a human as well. "He has tall branches, wrinkled wooden face, big eyes...?" She tried gesticulating with a hand to show what he was like. He was a tree look-alike after all, that odd human statue would never match. She sighed, the arm holding her satchel relaxing.

That certainly sounded like an interesting god, but not one that Kier knew anything about. He shook his head slowly, then gestured around at all the god images in the cathedral so that the stranger could see that all the gods here wore human faces.

Umthi might be a disguise one of them wore - they didn't have to look human all the time - but if he was Kier knew nothing of it. And Apollo would very much enjoy an offering of paint.

He...he still didnt get it. Bluberion looked around and none of these human deities looked like hers. Did they get to pick different gods? That's not how it works...or maybe? Maybe their shamans pick that at the beginning of the time? It was beyond Blu's limited understanding.

A disappointed pout progressively formed on her face.

"I dont know your gods, and I cant miss mine's ritual." Who knows what would happen if she did? Food would not be found anymore, weather would go nuts, she couldnt let that happen!

"Help me with it! Come!" Bluberion's slit eyes suddenly widened, then she reached to grab the boy's arm with her padded and clawed hand, without hurting him. If he didnt protest, she'd attempt to drag him after her through the cathedral's halls, grabbing a non-lit candle off a table on their way out as well. "I will use you as an altar, your hair looks like Umthi's." Except his were tree branches, but the brown curls resembled that just fine.

The idea of being used as a god-image alarmed Kier, and the slip of a lad shook his head vigorously. Not that he had much to say if she decided to be at all forceful, and he was more than a little weirded out by the fact that he apparently looked like an alien god.

Unsure what else to do but follow, Kier was dragged along with the strange woman, hoping that the candle was going to go at his feet! He shouldn't be letting this happen, but a the same time wasn't he supposed to facilitate worship? And of course she had different gods. Maybe he wrong gods, but maybe they were really the gods he knew under different names. Gods could appear however they wanted, after all.

Bluberion's suspicion regarding these so called Whites was starting to settle down as a fact in her head: they worshiped and worked with Gods, so they didnt speak. Maybe only deities could hear them. She wasnt one to question unknown forces, in fear of facing punishment.

It didnt take long for them to come out in the breathtaking gardens of the White grounds, where Bluberion felt much more at home. Surrounded by nature instead of all human technology and architecture sure felt less pressuring, less like she had to struggle to fit in. As such, she didnt even realize her tail popped out of her pants like Reds at the sight of clean water. "Here, come sit." She lead him to a large cherry tree, its crown already all pink.

Then, she'd situate herself in front of him, cross-legged, and turned her satchel upside down to dump its content in her lap. Flowers, goods and tubes of paint all fell there, and she put the candle aside for now. "Now, lets get you all ready!" With a bright smile on her face, Bluberion reached with her clawed and padded hands up to the White's hair to fluff it up, and put a few smaller flowers in it carefully, unless he was scared off before that. Flowers in his hair, paint on his face and then she'd need to give him the candle to hold together with her, if they ever came that far without any trouble.

The silent White was dragged along with the strange woman, who - oh gods she had a tail. He was sat in front of a cherry tree, too disturbed by the goings on to object too strongly. He was going to get in trouble for this, Kier was certain of it. There was no way around that.

At least the garden was a lovely place; Kier could understand why the alien woman would be attracted here for a holy ritual. He squeaked slightly as she fuffed his hair up and put flowers in it, and Kier couldn't decide whether or not to just let her do what she needed to. She was seeking a religious ritual, even if it was an unfamiliar (incorrect, as his training would suggest?) one.

Well, why couldn't aliens have their own gods? Each color did, after all. From Jove to Mercury to Minerva ... why not Umthi?
